Walsall stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games with the destruction of Coventry City to go up to 8th spot in League 1 with a great display despite 19 goal hit man Will Grigg being out with hamstring trouble but it mattered not. Walsall took the lead on 33 minutes when Jamie Paterson skipped past two defenders to slot home.
Saddlers lead was doubled on 54 minutes when Craig Westcarr scored from the penalty spot after James Baxendale was brought down. Coventry's woes increased when Jordan Stewart was sent off for two yellow cards before Westcarr got his second with a simple header. The scoring was completed in the 87th minute when Coventry - born Paterson got his second in a man of the match performance.
