The final day of the terrific 1998-9 season at the Britannia Stadium for our promotion party. 4,000 plus Saddlers fans in a total attendance of 12,091 cheering our heroes on all game. Promotion had already been secured in the 3-1 home victory against Oldham which was followed by a 2-2 draw against champions Fulham that saw Kevin Keegan heap praise on Ray Graydon and rightly so.
The result was purely perfunctory and none of us minded getting soaked to the skin with beer tossed into the air in the bar at half time in the away end - we were there to salute Ray's heroes for the final time that season and cheer and clap all game. There was even the conga chucked in for good measure.
The Walsall line up on that game at Stoke was -
Walker, Marsh, Pointon, Larusson, Viveash, Roper, Wrack, Steiner, Rammell, Keates, Mavrak.
